‘The Tartini Style’ is my contribution to the Norwegian Artistic Research Programme, a research project that concluded in 2015 and was subsequently recognised as Ph.-D. equivalent. The entire text can be downloaded from Brage, the Norwegian university libraries online services.

The pursuit was to identify elements of Tartini’s personal style of performance, in particular his style of embellishment, and to develop a method to re-implement them in his music where direct sources are insufficient. The subsequent recording, released on the label 2L in 2015, demonstrates this ornamental practice applied in typical slow movements, like the famous ‘Devil’s sonata’.
